Our gallery not only consists of uniquely designed, original themes that designers work hard at building from the ground up, but also free and premium themes that come with a solid layout that can be modified to the designers liking. This saves a lot of time as well as allows less experienced designers to make their splash in the WordPress world. Although not as “pure” of a design, they still can account for some beautiful designs that deserve recognition. WP Zoom recently had a few examples of how a few free and premium themes have been modified uniquely.
The providers of these free and premium themes deserve a lot of recognition for their hard work and time put into making solid platforms for everyone from a daily blogger to an elite designer. These designers are providing some of the backbone to making WordPress the premium CMS platform on the web today. A trend we’ve noticed lately has been an increase in theme clubs. In fact, two of our recent sponsors, WebRefill and WooThemes, are offering themes club opportunities. A themes club allows a person to pay a subscription which gives them access to multiple premium themes and possibly more themes in the future. Rather than pay for one premium WordPress theme at a time, the themes club allows customers to pick and choose from a variety of themes at a discounted price. Other designers, rather than start a club, many times offer their theme portfolio as a package deal. This also can be of value to someone who doesn’t like the commitment of a subscription and would rather not pay for each theme individually.
As fellow WordPress lovers, we loved the idea of a themes club when it first started but were skeptical at times, especially when WP Designer did a quick promotion of his club and then sold the site to somebody who drove the idea into the ground. One themes club that we mentioned earlier, Woo Themes isn’t taking the individual designer approach. The club is a team of 4 designers, Elliot Jay Stocks, Adii, Magnus Jepson, and Mark Forrester, who have had many of their modified premium themes or works featured on our site. We all at some point in our life experiences deal with an individual who has a hard time making deadlines or contracts which puts less confidence in their services. Yet we like the individual service and experience and take that risk for it. Well, to finally hear a themes club that is combining the confidence of 4 different designers with established names on the line along with the personal service aspect that we all love is refreshing. With their combination of experience and portfolio, their themes club, WooThemes, just might prove that strength does come in numbers.
We feel theme clubs are a great idea and would love to see all of them succeed. This just makes the WordPress community even stronger as designers and bloggers are able to select from even more high quality themes at a lower price to use or learn from. It also motivates those that run the clubs to put more effort in providing quality premium themes out there to satisfy their subscribers. It’s a win win situation. The beauty of design is that it’s constantly changing and finding new ways to express a personality, corporate look, or just something unique in a website presentation. We really do love how WordPress allows for the simplest blogger to the most experienced designer to take a part in something like this.

We’ve hit the 1000 WordPress Website mark in our gallery. Not much else to say I guess except stay tuned for the next thousand.
Just in case you were dying to know who #1000 was…
Despite the gallery approaching 1000 WordPress sites, We Love WP was submitted and featured on KillerStartups today. We really appreciate the feature, even if they said WordPress is old school :). We tend to differ so go there and show that WordPress is indeed still alive and kicking (and We Love WP too if you want)! Killer Startups Feature
We also want to thank Six Revisions for featuring us in one of their latest posts about inspirational websites. If you haven’t checked out their blog, it is well worth subscribing to.

Everyday we receive a lot of great submissions that we love to feature. There is so much great design and creativity out there and those websites deserve to be recognized for that. One of the great things about the WordPress community is that there are many designers who work really hard to create free themes for others to use and are instantly provided with a great looking website. Unfortunately many of these free theme users try submitting their website to be featured here on our site. Now we understand that some themes are modified heavily to a point to where it almost doesn’t look like the original one and we like to recognize the work put into that, as long as they keep the original designer link. Now we usually weed out the free themes but occasionally one slips through and we feature a theme that’s not original. It’s usually because the footer link of the designer is removed or we’re just having a bad day. Any free themes submitted with footer links removed are reported to the original designer as they deserve credit for the hard work they have done.
We also want to thank those out there who leave feedback and help keep our board clean from free unmodified themes as well as any modified free themes that may have the original designer link removed. WordPress is a wonderful thing and it’s important to recognize the hard work designers and developers do for the community, as they are the reason of why we love WordPress so much.

As you can see, we’ve launched a brand new look for the We Love WP showcase. The ownership of the site has changed and our first order of business was a re-design. We look forward to presenting beautiful inspiration on a fresh new look for the gallery for all those who frequent the site.
We’d like to thank Henry Jones for all the time and hard work he put in for us on the new design. We just recently featured his WordPress site in our gallery which led us to contacting him about a re-design. Henry was great to work with and his experience and professionalism was superb. We plan on continuing to use him for our future design projects. You can check out his new design blog at DesignReviver.com.
We are quite pleased with how everything has turned out, and like most new themes, there may be bugs, so please give us feedback if you see something we’ve missed.

We recently received a submission from Peter Ricci at Agentpoint that really blew us away with how well it was put together both design and content wise. It was truly an original WordPress powered site built around a real estate service. We wanted to know more about it, so we emailed Peter and asked him about the site development and with his permission, we’re posting his reply of what went into building this very nice WordPress site. Enjoy!
The Fruit Collection
Elegant simplicity is how we approached this development. The Fruit brand is one of the most recognisable in Australian real estate, bold, smart and distinctive. The site is proudly developed in the WordPress the CMS/Blog platform using the Agentlog Property Listings Management System to drive property and team data.
Agentpoint developed a number of plug-ins specifically for these websites.
Overview: Agentpoint (web designer) has a Property Listings Management System (Agentlog) that allows real estate agents to manage all of their vendors property listings from one web based location. This system allows real estate agents to add properties, photos, videos, maps, brochures, open times and podcasts for each individual listing.
We decided to use WordPress after having so many problems with 3rd party CMS’s systems not being up to scratch and having a poor update record and the fact that WordPress had such a large development community only enhanced its offering.
It has taken months of work for a number of developers to get it right and all working well (speed, pages, standards) and now we have got it pretty much down where we would like it.
So here are a run down of some plugins.
· Real Estate Plug-in: This is the main plug-in and works without our Agentlog System and displays all of the agents property listings. It also controls search results, pagination, property pages, print pages, email listings, email to self, mortgage calculator and many more features. Also includes Lightbox image gallery for individual photo galleries. The plug-in and many settings such as company id’s and office id’s from our agentlog system. (we can have thousands of offices added), it also includes how many listings in search results, google analytics code, google maps codes and other basic settings.
· Feature properties: Allows user to create feature listings or have this automatically load from database.
· Latest Listings: Brings in latest listings (6 of each). The plug-in has a number of controls such as whether to display sales, lease or both types.
· Property clouds: Brings from database all suburbs, and suburbs grow in size if they have more and more listings within a particular suburb.
· Email subscriptions: A site user can subscribe to sales or lease email subscriptions, this sends them latest listings added to system. The plugin has a number of settings such as back days, html, text formats and send times and dates.
· RSS feeds: for sales and lease listings.
· Team Pages: We also developed a plug-in that allows all team members to have an individual page complete with all of their own for sale lease, under offer, sold and leased listings.
There are a few more, but these are pretty much the main ones.
The site also has XML sitemaps for Google, Yahoo, Ask and MSN and because they are built entirely on the Wordpress platform they are standards compliant and come with all of the features of this powerful platform.

Here are 5 WordPress sites that we really loved for the month of January 2008.
Looks like Wordpress is well over 2.2 million blogs according to the its .com website. It has been an incredible experience being able to watch the software grow over the years and become, in our opinion, the most premier blog on the internet today. So, do you ever wonder where exactly Matt started brainstorming the idea about Wordpress? Well, there is a post from the archives on his website, ma.tt, from 5 years ago that expresses his thoughts towards someday creating this wonderful thing called Wordpress. That someday eventually turned into millions of blogs, thousands of design jobs, and the ability to create content on the web in an easy to use platform for anybody with access to the internet.
The codex is an invaluable resource for WordPress developers from novice to experts. Occasionally though you may find obsolete or out of date information. This can be frustrating but you can help. The codex is based on a wiki as long as your registered you can add or edit information. What better way to give back to the Wordpress community by helping to keep the codex uptodate.
